Information applicable to all inspections

All inspections are performed according to the Standards of Practice as outlined by the Division of Professional Regulation.

As of January 1, 2003 all home inspectors are required to be licensed by the State of Illinois. All inspectors must complete 60 hours of pre-license education before taking the exam administered by the State of Illinois. All licenses have to be renewed every two years and require continuing education.

The Standards of Practice outline requirements for all inspections in Illinois.

Who should be present at the inspection? The client, the current owner, and often the realtor representing the client should be present at the inspection.

Payment is due after the inspection agreement is signed and before the inspection begins.

The inspection will last anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on the size of the building inspected.

A report will be mailed to the client within 48 hours of the inspection, and it can be delivered via email or fax within 24 hours of the inspection.

In addition to being licensed by the State of Illinois, many inspector are members of professional organizations that provide continuing education, mentoring and numerous other resources. We are members of NACHI (National Association of Certified Home Inspectors), a nationally recognized organization.
