I, Bernard W. Foster, am a State Licensed Home Inspector and the president of BW Foster Home Inspection, Inc.
My Promise to Every Client
Let’s start with the facts. If I were trying to make a lot of money I would have stayed at my previous six figure career. I chose to be a home inspector because it is truly something I enjoy. An inspection is like taking a picture of the home. Each one has its own unique history. Performing a home inspection allows me to try and reveal that history. I find this fascinating and fun and this is why I chose home inspection as my second career. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed my previous career and I found it very hard to leave it, and I am thankful for all that I learned. My last ten years as a troubleshooter taught me that a problem isn’t always obvious or easy to find or solve. Inspecting a house allows me to use many of the skills that I have learned. I have always had a passion for houses and for looking at why the same types of houses have different issues. This is why I feel you should choose my company for your home inspection. You can rest assured that I will provide the most thorough, complete and honest inspection possible. I will also be available after the inspection is done for help or any questions or concerns, and even you’re final walk through at no additional charge.
It is no secret that BW Foster Home Inspection, Inc. wants to be the home inspection company you choose.
We understand that without satisfied clients our company suffers! So please help us help you by letting us know what we’re doing right or wrong. If you like our service, tell someone; if not, tell us.
Qualifications
I am a life-long resident of Evanston, Illinois. I have been in the electrical construction utility industry for 21 years; the last 10 of those years as a troubleshooter. During my years in the this industry, I purchased and renovated my own home and a multi-unit rental building. I grew up in a Victorian in Evanston and a family friend taught me how to do maintenance of this building at a young age, which resulted in a life-long interest in learning about buildings and construction. I also am a hobby woodworker in my spare time. I became a licensed Home Inspector in 2005 after successfully completing 60 hours of pre-licensing education and passing the Illinois State licensing test. After reviewing the professional organizations for home inspectors, I chose the National Association for Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI). Their online support and disussion groups give me access to many years of combined experience of inspectors across the country. I also have local continuing education and support through the local Chicago Chapter.
The State of Illinois requires 6 hours of continuing education per year. NACHI requires a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education per year. I am a certified Environmental Inspector (mold), and I have a certificate in residential wiring.
As of January 17, 2003 all home inspectors and home inspection entities practicing in the State of Illinois must be licensed by the State. To view the Home Inspection License Act see http://www.ilga.gov/commission/jcar/admincode/068/06801410sections.html
